The seawall contorted and ripped apart. Twisted rebarb gaped out of caverns in the cement like arthritic fingers grasping for a place to latch onto. A boiling sea swirled around and over the piers and floor joists of The Old Copper Kettle. A sharp crack. A groan. And the building shuddered, then succumbed to the pounding waves.
I stood on an unbroken portion of the wall and watched in silent horror while memories of family dinners full of laughter and love broke apart, swallowed by an angry ocean. The old landmark restaurant swept away forever.
A breach in the seawall allowed raging waters to rush beyond the protective barrier. Rogue currents attacked everything in their path and brought ultimate destruction to The Old Kettle and to a nearby hotel as well.
We call the culprits hurricanes, but God is sovereign over all things. In the Book of Ezekiel He tells us over and over what He did because of Israel’s rebellion, “so that they may know He is God and beside Him, there is no other.” Yet, like Israel, we have refused to hear and heed His warnings to us. We refer to Mother Nature’s caprice and have refused to believe these events are in fact warnings from the God of all creation, so that we will know He is God, and repent.
On that late September afternoon, standing at the edge of this turbulent scene, God chiseled a life lesson in my mind and on my heart. When the walls of His protection are torn down, the consequence for those inside is death.
God built a wall of laws to shelter His people—His principles and statutes that give life and blessing. However, He warned, when they violated His Word, they would surely die.
There are abysmal breaches in America’s walls of protection. Enemies of the cross of Jesus Christ have invaded our land with the relentless power of pounding waves. Destructive waves that suck up and swallow down this throat of eternal death, all who believe the lie and deception that disobedience to God is okay.
God said, “the shedding of innocent blood pollutes the land; and for that reason the land will spew you out” (Leviticus 18:22-30 NAS).
He also said, “when a man lies with another man the way he would lie with a woman, it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22 NAS, Romans 1:26-27 NAS).
Will the piers and pilings of God’s principles stand firm in our land? Will the floor joists of His precepts support our nation on the solid footing of His Word, or will we accept the world’s thinking, which will propel us toward a catastrophic end?
The Lord God Jehovah will not hear our cries for rescue when His own people defy, deny, and despise the truth of His Word.
A non-vote or a vote against the Laws of God will unleash the power of a raging sea of destruction, sweeping America from its moral foundations into the abyss of lies and deceptions, just like The Old Copper Kettle washed away in the waves. God warned, “He that is not for Me, is against Me” (Matthew 12:30 NAS).
Will you vote for or against His Word?
Please join me in repairing the breaches or will you choose to lay them waste?
Very well said, DiAne.

I think the last decade are proof of what can happen to an ungodly nation. Couldn’t agree with you more, DiAne.

Bold lady, thanks for raising the standard! May I copypaste this into an email to our elders, who will likely use it on our church’s website? They can give a link if you desire . . .

Kat, I’d appreciate it if you’d pass it to any who will use it to spread the Word of God to deceived and lost generations. And I’d love a link to y’all’s website. I read a scripture in Revelation years ago that put fear in the heart of me. Revelation 21:6-8. I’ll only quote verse 8: “But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murders and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Like Daniel who “made up his mind that he would not eat the king’s meat. . .” I made up my mind I would stand on the principles and precepts of God if He would give me the words to speak.
To lump cowards with what we consider to be the big six, wow, that got and still holds my attention. Thank the Lord for His mercy and grace to forgive and transform us into what He wants us to be.

Thanks so much! I am not a policy-maker, but will see where this goes. 🙂
Yes, I have noticed that list before, with cowardice listed FIRST. Hmm. I know so many who take “bravery” as an excuse for sin — so glad yours is tempered with wisdom.
Definitely His “words to speak”.

Combining scripture with its implicative results, as in God’s storms of retribution, should leave everyone agasp at His power and His faithfulness. He means what He says. The Old Testament has never been done away with. Jesus’ love is demonstrated in this power to bring us to him; to show us He watches and weighs our thoughts and deeds. Eventually, His patience may come to an end. Puny man may scoff and stiffen his neck, but God has the last word.

Judy, as an added note, Ezekiel 20:33 states: “As I live, declares the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out, I shall be king over you.”

I have noticed in the Internet news reports, commenters offering prayers for the safety of those on the east coast and other commenters becoming angry that someone who believes in God would post such a thing, as if there is no God so it is futile. Then they go on to rant against this God they deny. Amazing lack of logic.

I don’t understand, Katharine. Are people becoming angry that we would pray for those suffering such hardship? I don’t think people understand how anxious God is to save those who will believe and trust Him.
I love Pastor E.V. Hill’s comments on our GriefShare DVS. He says God reaches out grabbing lost ones by the arm, the leg, the hair of the head, anyway He can get them into the Ark of the Lord Jesus Christ. I think that is a beautiful picture. And we should be doing the same thing.
What many don’t realize is that love isn’t just a warm fuzzy, sometimes it’s tough to hear truth. Love means speaking God’s truth. It may hurt in the beginning but God heals all hearts who come to Him.

Yes. Some sweet commenter is promising to pray and they are getting angry. The whole picture, though, did include many commenters rising to her defense.
Yes, love must be tough, sometimes, for sure. People do not get that. Obviously

Yes, angry that anyone would act as if God is up there, or has any power, or cares. Given that, shaking the fist at Him is insane, I would say.

Truth so boldly and beautifully stated DiAne. Many would much rather blame global warming for the disaster than to think that a loving God would send calamity. God is more concerned about our eternal destiny than our comfort here on earth and will do whatever it takes to get the attention of those he loves. Love God’s powerful lesson to you and to us all….”When the walls of His protection are torn down, the consequence for those inside is death.” Sad that so many do not realize the overwhelming love of God who wants to restore hearts to him. Just finished studying Malachi and also reading “The Furious Longing of God” by Brennan Manning. Both speak of a love that will never let go. God wants to restore us to himself above all else, but we are each accountable to repair our portion of the wall. (Wish I lived close enough to be in your writing group. You have mastered the fine art of word painting.)
