NEW UPDATED COVER

TheMaster'sPlan2_CoverPrint copy Book 2

Here are the updated cover copies…front and back… for Book Two in The Master’s Plan Revealed Through God’s Word. We are shooting for a release date during the first week in July.

You can order copies on Amazon.com and “Especially for You” Tea Room in Kaufman, Texas carries this series as well as my “Roped” series. If you have a gift shop and would like to carry copies of my books I’d be happy to talk with you.

And as an added note…for the third or fourth time, I’ve changed the title of Book Three…at this point the book is titled “The Master’s Plan Revealed Through Promises, Prophets, Priests and Kings”. What do y’all think?

While the first book in this series was very elementary, each book will grow with your family’s study of the Word. Watch for the release date! And remember every writer…and artist…likes to hear from their readers, both on our blog sites as well as with reviews…else we become lonely!

Many have asked in response to Fay Lamb’s article this morning, “What can I do about all this?” My list is not all inclusive. I’d like to hear from you all as you think about what Mr. and Mrs. America can do. Here are a few of my ideas. Let me hear from those of you who’d like to join this conversation. Let me be clear, if you’re a socialist or left leaning liberal, this conversation is not for you. I’m not here to argue political POV’s. We are far beyond that; many just don’t realize or haven’t come to grips with the state of today’s peril. So, what can you do?

WHAT CAN “WE THE PEOPLE” DO?

“We the People” can stop feeding the false news coverage. Turn them off! “We the People” can refuse to believe and respond to every rumor that scrolls across the top of our FB news page. “We the People” can become active in conversations we have with our representatives and senators, state and federal…letting them know how we feel about issues, needs, and their votes. Let them know you are watching them. “We the People” can read and educate ourselves about the candidates up for election and re-election…their position, their beliefs…or the lack thereof…and vote for candidates that love this country, not those who desire to trash the Constitution, our God, and your freedom. “We the People” can think.

sunset-on-the-bay

“We the People” must confront outright lies on our social media, in conversations, and be careful to always speak the truth of God…even in our comments to the smallest post…being careful to remind one another we serve a righteous and loving God who is not willing for any to perish, but understanding some will…those who refuse to believe in and trust what Jesus did at Calvary was enough. “We the People” are to have the presence of our God around us and our words…and not be afraid to speak His name even when those we are talking to will be irked. “We the People” should not shun a conversation…a reasonably kind conversation…about the Sovereignty of God…about the truth that abortion is murder and homosexuality is a perversion and abomination to God and to us. “We the People” must limit our TV, movie going, and reading material, only watching and reading what is pleasing to God and let it be known to your kids (even the grown ones) what you approve and don’t approve. “We the People” should write a personal letter to our President, telling him thank you, letting him know you are praying for he and his family. A letter in your own handwriting expressing your appreciation for his sacrifice. And while you’re at it, if you have congress people who are backing the President, standing for your values, and standing for the Constitution, write them too.

When Sorry's Not Enough

“We the People” must take responsibility and repent before God for the pitiful public school systems that have allowed the enemies of this nation to slip in unnoticed and steal the hearts and minds of our children while we were too busy to monitor the text book lies our children have been fed for the past two generations.

Does all of this take courage? Yes. Will it cause people to shove you away? Probably. Especially if they are in opposition to God or just plain cowards. And we all know what Revelation has to say about cowards. God promises when we acknowledge our weakness and depend on Him, He will make us strong. His instructions to us are “…to stand firm and occupy ’til He comes.” My son is a warrior, a fighter pilot. My son-in-law is a soldier. I’ve seen and know these young soldiers…all warriors; I know what it means to stand firm and occupy. Occupying your little corner of the world doesn’t allow timidity, silence, or fence sitting when seeing things you know are wrong and in opposition to the laws of our Constitution and to our Lord Jesus Christ. But most of all, we must get truly serious about our own prayer life with our Father in Heaven. Up ‘til this point in time, most folks fall into bed at night, weary from the day, mumbling a few “I want, I need…” to God before drifting off to sleep. Could this be part of the reason we are where we are today? That and a lack of time in the Word? An hour on Sunday morning won’t furnish enough of the Word to carry even one of us through the day, much less the week. We are spiritually malnourished.

DSCF2349

We are not to be spectators…we are to be involved in the world around us…else we are part of the problem. The blunt truth is the current state of affairs in our nation and in the world today have reached the point that unless the Sovereign God of the Universe and His Son The Lord Jesus Christ come quickly to our aid, (and that will only be in response to the prayers of His people or His preordained plan for the ages)the likelihood of a return to what we’ve called normal is at best unlikely.

But know this…God hears and answers the prayers of His people…most often, not in the way we expect. THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IS OUR ONLY ANSWER. “Call upon Him while He is near.”

“If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14 NAS).

“This is my country, land of my birth.
This is my country, grandest on earth.
I pledge thee my allegiance, America the bold.
This is my country, to have and to hold!”
Becker Road 2016 1

How long has it been since you’ve heard or sung this patriotic song written in 1940 by Don Raye? I can’t remember hearing it in years. Why? Could it be it’s been buried so you won’t be reminded of all we’ve lost? Could it be we allowed people to govern who would choke on these words? Could it be we are living in the nightmare of a treasonous take-over and can’t wake up?

Whatever and wherever the truth is, it’s time to throw off the covers, splash the water of reality in our eyes, and own up to what’s happening in America. Time to remember where we came from, and where we’re going before the burnt beans on the bottom of the pot inflict all of us with their nasty taste, attitude, and texture—or is it already too late?

“What difference if I hail from North or South
Or from the East or West?
My heart is filled with love
For all of these.
I only know I swell with pride
And deep within my breast
I thrill to see Old Glory
Paint the breeze.”
Hot in the Kitchen.jpg 1

Does it make a difference where you come from? No, it shouldn’t, not if you were born here. But if you were born in any other place on the globe, the attitude was, until recent years, you assimilated, or became a naturalized citizen of America by placing your hand on the Bible of God’s Truth, and pledged to be a citizen of the United States of America, full of joy to be part of the home of the free and the brave.

But not anymore. Our leaders today have been allowed to pick and choose which truth they want to place their oath in and upon—and for many it’s not The Lord God Almighty’s truth. Their physical presence is here in America, but their heart and mind insist upon bringing all the stuff they allegedly left to come to America. My question is why did they come to America? And the truth screams in my heart and head they came to hijack America and make our nation become like the one they left. That is called treason!

We have watched in our lifetime news reports of Old Glory being ripped down and burned in most every country in the world…even here in America…without there being any consequences for this vile act of treason. And as I write this, I’m not sure the pledge of allegiance is still recited in America’s classrooms? And we wonder how we find ourselves in this horrid place in time?

The Word of God says: “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6(NAS). But we’ve kicked God and His Word out of our schools, our homes, and even out of some churches. So, should the state we’re in be a shock to us? The majority of those attending churches in America today have a very limited knowledge and understanding of the Word of God and you can’t teach what you don’t know. You can’t possibly consume enough of the Word in an hour on Sunday morning to carry you through life’s difficulties…many church members are suffering from malnutrition of the Word. We have a generation of children right here in America who don’t have a clue who Jesus is—and we wonder why? Or maybe you don’t even wonder anymore…

“This is my country
Land of my choice
This is my country
Hear my proud voice.
I pledge thee my allegiance
America the bold
For this is my country
To have and to hold”
DSCF2348

As I read God’s Word, I’m so grateful that our Jehovah Elohim is a merciful God and He still offers His grace when we truly repent and return to Him. We see that over and over in the Old Testament as He disciplined His children, Israel. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever—until Jesus comes again, His mercy and grace are still available when we acknowledge our sins and return to Him.

This awful virus might have been used or allowed by Him, as are these enemy agents embedded in our government, to rattle us to attention and return to The Lord God Almighty. But there are also examples in the Word of part of Israel…the northern kingdom…that never learned and they were assimilated into Assyria…never to be part of Israel again because there was no faith in them.

We stand at a crossroad—truly God’s way or the highway to hell. We have an opportunity in November to purge the enemies from this land. To demand of our government leaders they will serve The Lord God first and then serve the citizens of this land of our birth.

In our lifetime we have watched as other countries received a right to vote. We watched as people lined up to cast their ballots, some paying for that privilege with their lives. Yet we have become so calloused, in this land purchased with the blood of our fathers, that we fear or are too lazy to go to the polls, show proof of who we are to prevent those who have no right to vote in our nation, in order to cast a legal ballot for the candidates we believe will serve this country in the way our forefathers purchased with their blood.

God is not willing

It’s down to the wire folks. There are people in Washington who don’t love America … who want to make Americans melt into their burned pot of beans that have been simmering in Satan’s fire since the world began. Is that the legacy you want to leave for your children? Many of your fathers and grandfathers fought in World War II…gave their lives so you could live free of fear in the greatest nation to have ever existed on this earth…and one three month bout of a man-produced virus has sent you cowering inside, willing to risk this great gift of freedom from our God. It’s a good thing your grandfather was willing to fight two men and their countries who exterminated multiplied thousands upon thousands of Jews and people who helped them. Men who destroyed Pearl Harbor, and slaughtered thousands upon thousands of our brave soldiers on foreign shores. Soldiers we honor today.

VOTING IS A GIFT, A PRIVILEGE, AND A RIGHT you have as an American…paid for by the blood of the patriots…don’t squander that blessing or wilt in cowardice…do it to the best of your ability, remembering those who came before you, and who will live in this land after you’re gone.

What will our legacy be to them? Will they have the privilege of singing….

“THIS IS MY COUNTRY, TO HAVE AND TO HOLD?”

Mother’s Day will be hear … again. And for those of us who’ve lost our mothers, and for mothers who’ve lost their children, this is a difficult time. I ask you to think about sending cards to those mom’s who’ve lost children. We’ve not ceased to be mothers. And remember God uses the dark times in our lives to teach us the most important things about ourselves, but also the amazing wonders of who He is and who we are in Him.

MOVING THE ANCIENT BOUNDARIES

“Mama, I sure do miss you and wish I’d said ‘I love you’ more often.”
DSCF3939
I’m sure each one of you reading this post feel the same way if your mother isn’t with you this Mother’s Day. But a blogging friend of mine sent a post this morning from “Home’s Cool,” 2009 08 04 206_edited-1entitled “What Would Your Mother Do?” And as I wrote a comment to her post it triggered memories. Memories I’d like to share, hoping we will guard our hearts every moment of every day. Because the Word tells us what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart.

My Mama had a beautiful voice and she loved to sing. And in the spring and summer, when the windows were opened, I could hear her singing a block from home. So could the neighbors. It was no secret Mama loved Jesus.

She also loved to cook and give parties…

The plan has been to publish the next book in this series every six months…then Corona happened and the bottom fell out of everything…especially book sales. So we’ve decided to wait ’til the market settles before releasing this next book.

But I couldn’t wait to give you a glimpse of the cover…let me know what you think. Hope this one perks your interest in this series.

Sales for the other two books are also slow…but during the lull, I’m still working on the next three THE MASTER’S PLAN REVEALED THROUGH JUDGES, PROPHETS, AND KINGS and THE MASTER’S PLAN REVEALED THROUGH THE MASTER and finally THE MASTER’S PLAN REVEALED THROUGH YOU.

It certainly looks as if we are rushing toward the end of this age and scripture tells us “…The fields are white, ready to harvest.” The books from this series make marvelous gifts to families with young children.

The second book The Many Colors of the Master’s Plan released April 4, 2020, on Amazon. This is a color book with associated memory verses and introduces many of the characters and critters appearing in this series.

TheManyColorsoftheMastersPlan_FrontCover copy-1

And the third book, The Master’s Plan Revealed Through the Word will release some time in June, 2020.

As you see the title of my blog site is Moving the Ancient Boundaries. Over and over throughout the Old Testament we read God said: Do not move the ancient boundaries.. In this age we shout “Freedom!!!” Freedom to do whatever we want, whenever we want, and however we want. But we forget we are sinful creatures…happened in the garden…and less you say, “Well, if I’d been there…” Nope. If you’d been there, you would have done exactly what Adam and Eve did. How can I be so sure? Look around you. We’re still committing those same sins…classified as sin… “Disobeying God’s Law.”

My mom was a wise woman, and she most always had an answer to all my “why?” questions. I had to play within the fenced in area…her rule. When I complained that everyone else was having all the fun on the other side of the fence, I can hear her reply like it was yesterday. “Fences are built to keep the bad stuff out, DiAne. Not to keep you inside. I want you to be safe.” God sets boundaries for us to keep the bad stuff out, because our wishy-washy brains can’t determine what’s bad and what’s good. Again, look around you at the littered landscape of folks who can’t or won’t discern good from bad.

Any way

But you can’t teach what you don’t know and during the 60’s one woman managed to mount a movement that had God’s Words…words we lived by since the beginning…kicked out of public schools…and the fence was torn down and we’ve catapulted over God’s ancient boundaries into the muck and mire of destruction.

The fourth book in the Master’s Plan Series will be The Master’s Plan Revealed Through the Life of the Master and the fifth book is titled The Master’s Plan Revealed Through You
and I’m contemplating a sixth entitled The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.

The way

I’m sure you’re thinking … how can I teach the Bible to my kids, I don’t know enough about the Bible to teach anyone. The object of this series is to learn with your kiddos. Besides, I’ve put a cheat sheet in the back…answers to the questions…so don’t let that deter you. I’ve written these books to encourage conversation between parent and child about our amazing God and His Son Jesus Christ. God created you and your children for a relationship with Him. He’s not shoving you away. No! His arms are open wide. He loves you and your family and has a wonderful plan for your lives…come and see!

As we are well into April, 2020 will go down in history as the Corona Virus year…the worldwide Corona Virus Year. Three months that have shaken the world scene from political, to personal, to theology, to educational, to…you name it. Confined at home with a “shelter-in-place” order, what have you learned? What troubles you the most in those wee hours of darkness, when you can’t sleep?

I’ve long since turned off the local and national news at night. About one news broadcast a day plunges my brain into overload. Instead, I’ve turned to the Bible and my Lord Jesus Christ.
Hot in the Kitchen 4
One of the first lessons I’ve learned these past months is God keeps His promises to widows. Yes, after losing my husband in August of last year, I’ve learned God promises in Isaiah 54:4-5 He will be my husband. And again, in Proverbs 15:25, God promises “He will establish the boundaries of the widow.” Because I belong to Him—He holds onto me and I hold onto Him—regardless of the sorrow and pain death and separation have brought into my life, some way, somehow, God will bring good out of this too. I have already learned to do things I never thought I could do…and I give my Lord glory for those things.

Talk about an attitude adjuster…I am His, He is mine… that’s a fact! But the last few days of attempting to fast and pray found me distracted and discouraged. I know it’s a spiritual battle, but it’s been disconcerting. I feel like a failure and I wonder how many other brothers and sisters in Christ find themselves tossed about by all this discord and uncertainty? Finding it difficult to carry all their burden to the Lord…what would He say? What would He think about me? I have a shocking truth for you…He already knows what your burden is and how you’re reacting. I can almost hear you asking… “Why do we have to carry our burden to the Lord if He already knows?” None of us are good burden carriers. And Jesus wants you and me to recognize we are carrying needless burdens. Burdens we weren’t meant to carry, but Jesus is.
Truth stumbled in the street
I’m concerned far too many in the church have allowed themselves, conscientiously or unconscientiously, to wander from the truth of the Word of God. We’ve become a dial flipping generation that chooses what we believe about God, ourselves, and the devil—and sometimes we’re just plain wrong in what we choose to believe. False prophets abound these days, and seem to grow more and more brash, provocative, yet convincing…and you too can be trapped in Satan’s snare. That’s why your attitude is so crucial.

With the majority of the Church limited in their knowledge of the complete truth of the Word of God, Satan is having a heyday! Oh, we all can pluck a memory verse or two we can quote on demand. Some of us have even committed several passages to memory…but how few of us truly know and can connect the scarlet thread dots of scripture from beginning to end? And if you’re answering my question with a so-what-attitude do you see how this could be a problem?

As I crawled from the covers this morning a gnawing in my spirit called me to read the 9th Chapter of Daniel. I knew this chapter happened at the end of Jewish captivity in Babylon. You see God had given them over for their continued disobedience to the King of Babylon—for seventy years. King Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed the holy city in three sieges and taken God’s people captive. But now, they were about to go back to Jerusalem…at least some of them…and Daniel “observed in the books” the number of years for the completion of their desolation was about over.
Crandall Sunset 2
In verse 9:3, God’s finger of conviction pressed sore on my heart as I read… “So, I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.” I winced as I thought about my own failure at fasting and praying the prior day.

The thought came to my mind, that’s right where Satan wanted you. So real was the voice I looked around, but I knew the Holy Spirit breathed those words to me. So I asked, What did Daniel do?

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore, he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself” (Daniel 1:8 KJV).

Daniel refused to blend in. Daniel purposed in his heart he would remain true to His Jewish faith even far from home in a pagan land, and faithful to the Word of God. And now I’m reading, seventy years later he remained true to the principles and precepts of his faith. If you’ve never read the twelve chapters in this powerful book of the Old Testament, now might be a great time to sit down and read Daniel’s words and God’s message back to him…and to us.

Having lived such a righteous life, you might think Daniel would have approached God with a higher-than-thou attitude. He had kept the faith. He hadn’t taken up the ways of the pagan Babylonians…as a matter of scripture, it appears Daniel was the lone voice of truth to King Nebuchadnezzar and it may have been Daniel’ attitude that brought that king to faith and trust in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But Daniel’s prayer showed his attitude.

And when Daniel knelt to pray, in Daniel 9:5 this servant of the Living God said:

“O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love Him, and to them that keep His commandments; we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from Thy precepts and from Thy judgments:”

Daniel’s attitude was humility before God. He owned the sin. He didn’t point a boney, self-righteous finger at those Jews who had adapted to Babylonian ways…he repented for the actions and way of life he and the rest of the Jewish nation had participated in that caused God to shake their world and send them into captivity in a strange, pagan land. He accepted God’s judgment as right and acknowledged their sin was wrong.
sunset-on-the-bay
So where do you believe Daniel’s attitude came from? Could it be Daniel had God fearing parents who taught him to worship and serve Jehovah YHWH? We know Daniel’s name means “God is my judge.” Could it be his parents were told by God he would be a man of honor before God? We know he was taken captive in the first group in 605 B.C. Daniel 1:3 tells us the king ordered the chief of his officials to bring in “…some of the sons of Israel, including some of the royal family and of the nobles, youths in whom was no defect…” Daniel and his three friends, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah or as we’ve come to know them, Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego were part of these young men, righteous young men who knew and practiced their faith in God—even in a pagan, foreign land.

I’m sure you’re asking, “How does this apply to me today? What’s your point, DiAne?”

America has become like Daniel’s rebellious nation. My grandparents would not recognize today’s America. And until the church folk rent their arrogant attitude and adopt an attitude like Daniel’s, God cannot and will not hear us. Until we humble ourselves and recognize how like the world we’ve become and repent, God cannot and will not hear us. Until we repent and turn to walk according to the principles and precepts of Our Living God, He cannot and will not hear us. Does that mean we have to be different? Oh yes, but isn’t that what God called us to be—a peculiar people?
Colors run into sea
At this moment America hangs in the balances. It only takes one look at history to see God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. “Judgment must begin at the house of God.” This nation who once proclaimed to be One Nation Under God, has plunged off the cliff into Satan’s clutches. Much of the church has been neutered.

It’s up to us…to you and to me. Which way will we turn? Do your prayers typify a nannie-nannie-boo-boo tone as you point your finger at others’ sins? Finger-pointing time is over. Or will you and I be like Daniel? Will you and I accept we are all part of the problem and fall on our collective faces before Him pleading for His mercy and grace? If God depended on your attitude, or mine, to usher in the wind and fire of the Holy Spirit, what would be the result?

Deliverance or judgment? God is faithful…are you? Am I?

We may be standing on the precipice of America’s destruction. Our attitudes up to this point have spoken volumes to our children. The majority of our heritage are racing down that broad road because our attitudes and our actions have been out of line with the Word of God. We’ve worshiped the things of this world…the want more, get more, and then multiply that more has prevailed. We’ve replaced evenings with the Word of God with the latest technical entertainment. We’ve sent our kids to high ranking, expensive, ungodly colleges and universities with money we didn’t have. We’ve played church…and a majority of these highly educated kids have seen through the hollowness of our phony faith.
Spring Tornado
The sands in America’s rebellious hour glass are draining away. If the Church doesn’t repent and return to the Lord our God and faith in His only Son, Jesus Christ, those trickling sands will evaporate in the swish of a moment! And like Jerusalem…. America will be swept into the tornado of God’s righteous judgment. Remember Abraham’s pleading with God over Sodom and Gomorrah? Are you confessing your sin and pleading with God to wash and cleanse the polluted soil of your heart and your nation with Christ’s blood?

“O my God, incline Thine ear and hear! Open Thine eyes and see our desolation’s and the city which is called by Thy name; for we are not presenting our supplications before Thee on account of any merits of our own, but on account of Thy great compassion. O Lord hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Thine own sake, O my God, do not delay, because Thy city and Thy people are called by Thy name” (Daniel 9:18-19 NAS).

Are we still One Nation Under God? One former president and many of those in His White House and in this Congress today say “America is no longer a Christian nation.”

As we spend these next three days pondering the impact of what Jesus did for each one of us over 2,000 years ago—What does your attitude say?

HAPPY EASTER! HE IS RISEN…HE IS RISEN INDEED!

SCRUB-BOARD THEOLOGY

Raise your hand if your grannie ever used a scrub-board…
Mine did. And my mother-in-law’s scrub-board hangs in my laundry room to remind me what a chore washing clothes used to be.

Scrub Board

Mama often told stories about the three of us—Grannie, me, and mama’s scrub-board theology.

When I was little more than a toddler, my Grannie had an enormous tub on a stool in the back yard and Monday’s were always wash day. Grannie filled the wash tub with hot water, lye soap, and Clorox, then she’d cram a week’s worth of dirty linens into those stinky suds.

While waiting for the linens to soak, Grannie showed me how to pull weeds in her flower beds…probably why I love to garden today. And while I’m sure I dug up more flowers than weeds, she always returned to her faithful scrub-board hanging on the side of the tub of suds. She’d grab a sheet and commence scrubbing the daylights outta that sheet. Up and down, back and forth, into the suds of torture. But the end results were always sparkling linens.

After the lengthy rinse process and likewise hefty wringing, Grannie toted her basket of linens to the clothesline, and hung them in the morning sun—just about the time I was done digging in dirt.
I hated dirty hands, still do, and story is I’d head for Grannie’s clean, wet sheets. Now mind you, this is all hearsay. I’m told Grannie would just smile and say, “What a sweet girl…” as I wiped my nasty-dirty hands on her clean, white, flappin’-in-the-breeze linens.

Scrub-Board Theology

But Mama didn’t think I was cute nor sweet, because she used her scrub-board theology on my backside and I’d wail. But word has it Grannie would smuggle me into the kitchen and turn my wails to smiles with hugs, kisses, and cookies. However, I’m also told many a visit ended with Mama and her mother disagreeing about discipline when Mama used her paddle to quiet my sass.

Sitting in front of my computer this morning, sharing the bratty DiAne, I’m so grateful Mama didn’t allow me to continue wiping my dirty hands and spoiled attitude on everyone’s lives and linens.

But we’ve raised kids who’ve never experienced the benefits of a good ole dose of what I’ve dubbed scrub-board theology. Dr. Spock told us we were wrong to spank and created “time-outs.” We’ve raised at least two generations of young people who’ve never felt the sting of their mamas’ switch or paddle. Young people who believe they are entitled to wipe their stinky attitudes and messy lives on everyone within their sphere of influence. Children who believe there is no right or wrong…everything is what you believe it is…

We’ve allowed our children and grandchildren to grow up believing the Lord God Almighty is a benevolent, old gray-haired, grandfather determined to shower us with hugs and blessings while we smear our sins all over His holiness. But I’m convinced God, like my Mama, also deals in scrub-board theology—only His discipline is groomed for each situation. Mama used her strong hand and a paddle—God often allows the painful scrubbing of consequences to stop us, turn us around, and bring us back to Him.

“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by Him; for those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives” (Hebrews 12:5-6 NAS).

The term scourging is the Greek word “mastigoo” and means “to flog” another Greek word “mestizo” means “to whip.” Good golly, you gasp. “Does that mean God agrees with whippings?”

In the Book of Proverbs 12:1 God says:
“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.”

In Proverbs 13:1 God says:
“A wise son accepts his father’s discipline, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.”

In Proverbs 14:34 God says:
“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”

In Proverbs 15:5 God says:
“A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but he who regards reproof is prudent.”

In Proverbs 1:8 God says:
“Hear my son, your father’s instructions, and do not forsake your mother’s teachings.”

In Proverbs 13:24 God says:
“He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.”

Scrub-Board Theology 2

Today, March 27, 2020, a good portion of America and the world finds themselves confined behind closed doors, for the first time in over one hundred years—frightened, worried, and bored.

Could it be God is in the process of beginning to apply His scrub-board theology to this nation who once proclaimed to be “One Nation Under God?” Could it be God is disgusted with the church playing in the flower beds of life all week, then traipsing to church on Sunday to smear His holiness with our dirty hands, yet tromping right back into the world to do the same idolatrous things all over again each week?

Stop and think about the number of idols yanked from our lives these past weeks…football, basketball, golf, hockey…you name the sport… robbing family time. Was your job an idol? Many of you will not return to the same places of employment that provided your self-satisfaction and self-approval in life. Bars, restaurants, and dives where you spent time and money you couldn’t afford to waste are closed. Hollywood and its glaring fixation over all things obscene and offensive to God…are closed. Disney’s unabashed flaunting of abdominal things…shut down. Credit cards maxed out. Bank account and way of life threatened. But abortion facilities remain open. Think about that for a moment.

Will you allow yourself to be buried in the debris of your idols or will you stop, fall to your knees, and seek God’s guidance and His will for you and your family during these attention getting days?

Scrub-Board Theology 3

Or will you say…Oh, those aren’t idols…they’re just part of our culture…our way of life. God calls anything we put ahead of Him, or anything that comes between His face and our face, an idol.

I have seriously pondered, could this isolation be God’s way of getting our attention and drawing near those who will listen and trust Him? Or will we always be too busy doing the next thing we want to do? Remember God’s instructions in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14…

“If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”

Precious one, these are instructions for God’s people. If you’ve never placed your faith and trust in Jesus, He has another message for you. The message of John 3:16:

“For God so loved the world (that’s you), He gave His only begotten Son (that’s Jesus), that whosoever believeth (that’s you) in Him (that’s Jesus) should not perish, but have eternal life” (that’s you if you choose to trust and obey Him. To give Him your heart).

Now, back to the church. Never in my lifetime have I experienced a true reviving of God’s people. I long to see God pour out the fresh wind and fire of His Spirit among us…the verses in 2 Chronicles give us God’s formula for bringing about such an event. Again, I ask…Are you interested? Will you listen? Will you acknowledge what has separated you from Christ? Will you return to Him and obey?

Enormous flocks of locust are gobbling crops in the Middle East (with the exception of Israel). A flash flood of destruction wrecked areas of Iran and Iraq on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. And now this corona pandemic.

God has allowed the doors of churches throughout our nation to be closed. It’s not worship as usual. Because He is calling you and me, as He always has—individually—to Himself. Will we bow and listen to Him? Will we choose to open the Word of God and seek His guidance for ourselves and our families? Or will we, as soon as everything is back on track, return to business as usual, which doesn’t include a moment by moment relationship with the Lord God Almighty?

This very well could be His last attempt to call us as a nation, and a church, to Himself—His last attempt to call me and you to Himself—before the trumpet sounds and the angel speaks.

Scrub-board Theology 4

Turn off the TV, open your Bible, gather your children and listen and obey our Jehovah Elohim. Turn away from every false idol that diverts your attention from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pray and listen. Many of us are praying, repenting, and fasting March 29th for God to heal our land and pour out His Spirit so our families and America can be healed…as He promised.

Will you listen? Will you hear? Will you pray?

“It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons…All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness” (Hebrews 12:7-8, 11 NAS).

MOVING THE ANCIENT BOUNDARIES

Here is another post from 2014…and nothing has changed except maybe things have become much worse. Is your church experiencing revival? Is our nation showing symptoms of the wind and fire of the Spirit of God sweeping through the congregation on a given Sunday morning? I didn’t think so. God’s clock is ticking down and Christian sister or brother, we will stand before Him to give account for our passivity and refusal to obey His Word. If not now? When?

This past weekend a group of people watched horrified as a speeding vehicle crashed through barriers and flipped upside down, submerged in the Utah River, with three teenagers inside.

With one spirit, in one accord, this group of people jumped into the turmoil, turned the vehicle right-side-up in the water, and rescued the teens who are reported to be in stable condition.

The event made national news and we celebrate…

I ran across this post I wrote in 2017. Again, how much more applicable it is today. My husband went home to be with Jesus in 2019. How grateful I am to be able to say those words. His journey is complete…he’s home and healed. But how about us? We’re still here and He still has plans for you and me. I hope this article will motivate you to be sensitive to the Spirit working in you.
